Owensboro Convention Center

March 2014

This large scale installation resides on a 90 foot wall in the center of the lobby of the convention center.  This piece consists of over 300 individual discs of handblown glass and stainless steel bars. The Ohio River is the inspiration for this piece since the convention center sits right on the banks of the Ohio in Owensboro. The sculpture covers over 50 feet in width and over 25 feet from top to bottom. The glass pieces are flowing forms and represent the water. The stainless bar is bent in smooth curves and weaves in and around the glass groupings and suggests the flow and movement of the currents of the river.
